Primarily sketches, paintings, artings by Vi Pham But also the occasional look at the strange being behind 'the artist'.

Luckily, this has never happened to me with clients. But all the time when I paint for family, haha. I believe they want to spare my feelings, but only tell me how they want it changed after I’ve completely finished painting it.

FLOWER:

"Actually, I don’t want it straight on [like in the original reference], can you make it more from the side?"

"Yeah, sure I can paint over it."

"No, no, you don’t have to start over! You can just stretch the petals on the sides!"

"Um, perspective doesn’t work that way."

DOG:

"Actually, can you make him bigger?"

"Sure, but you can tell me as I was making those other fixes and changes. Instead of when I’ve completely rendered him and stuff so I don’t have to repaint the entire thing from scratch."

"No, no! You can just make like the outside of his head bigger or something?"

"But… then there will be a tiny face, inside a big head."

"Ah, well, I mean, you can just make the body bigger!"

"Now he’ll have like a tiny head and a big body. Kind of like my dog, but uh, not really your dog."

I’d rather repaint it, get it right, instead of taking short cuts that’ll just look bizarre at the end. All I’m asking, is if there’s something you want tell me, do it sooner rather than later if possible. Like anytime before I finish painting the thing would be good!

Ahh, makes me miss photoshop. o_o

Quick illustration I finished this week for my friend Juston's upcoming anthology Restless Minds (scheduled to debut at APE next month). The anthology is about overcoming anxiety to create art; so I felt making a piece on meditation featuring a tool mandala and my mantra would be appropriate.
I really like the image and have uploaded it as shirts at TeePublic and as prints at Society6. Hope you like it too. <3

It’s kind of like the ring of water left behind from a perspiring cold drink that stains a wooden table except it’s actually my sweat on the cintiq.
I’ve been working mostly non-digital (unless I HAVE to) because my computer set up is in a room with no air conditioner and the cintiq is like a heater. Fall weather, my body is ready. D8
